Nail of the Day - May by CHANEL

For my birthday, my mum treated me to my first Chanel nail polish. Obviously I was incredibly excited and the colour was simply beautiful but I was slightly apprehensive. Due to the huge hype around Chanel makeup - I include my self in this - I feel the quality must always match the price for it to be justifiable. Therefore, I hoped that it matched up to my previous good experiences of Chanel makeup.

The nail polish is Chanel's Spring Collection which consisted of various lipsticks, a beautiful blush that I could never afford - you know which one I am talking about - and three nail polishes : April, May and June. Although my birthday is in April my mum decided to get me May because it was more appropriate for the summer.

To get the opacity seen in the picture I had to apply three coats, not great considering the price tag. Nevertheless, the colour is gorgeous. It has an almost gel effect which has excellent staying power - not one chip yet! (three days after)

I expect that this will be my one and only Chanel nail polish, it is a nice luxury but I could have got six Barry M ones for the same price!

Nail of the Day - You don't know Jacques? by OPI

OPI has become my new nail obsession, I did a post a couple of days ago on an OPI set that I bought and I have fallen in love with several of the colours. One of my favourite being You don't know Jacques? which is originally from the La Collection De France. It's a beautiful dark taupe which I decided to wear on New Years Eve but I added a twist ...

I added a stripe of Rage by Orly on my ring finger and I really like the edgy effect that it gives. Both these polishes are amazing and they have lasted so well, I also got a few compliments on my nails while at a New Years party, although I did go round showing people my nails because I was so proud of them ... but that still counts?

I love this nail combination and I will be definitely trying out similar combinations this year!

Nails of the Day - OPI Best of the Best

Hello everyone, I would just like to apologise for my lack of posts recently. I have been so busy over the Christmas period but I am back and there are lots of posts coming your way!

Now on to the post ...

If, like me, you live in the UK and you are nail varnish obsessed then you will know that to buy a bottle of OPI nail varnish is probably the naughtiest purchase you will ever make. Although I love nail polish, I can't quite bring myself to spend £10.50 when in boots I could buy several Barry M nail paints for the same price. However, on one of my "I-am-not going-to-buy-anything" browses on the internet I found this little box of lovelies.

The set contains ten of OPI's most famous shades in 3.5ml bottles. I'm calling it my OPI starter kit, it has a wide range of colours from neutrals to brights to darks and it contains the infamous "Lincoln Park After Dark".

alpine snow, bubble bath, tickle my france-y,
 strawberry margarita, cajun shrimp

big red apple, i'm not really a waitress, you don't know jacques!,
russian navy, lincoln park after dark

They all apply beautifully and it has given me a really good taster of OPI nail polishes and the wide colour range.

 same order as before

I expect that one day I will own a full sized OPI nail polish, however, for now I am quite happy with my miniatures!

I got mine from here!

Nail of the Day - Black Cherries by Rimmel

When the weather turns cold and with Christmas just round the corner, I put my summer nail polishes away and bring out the lovely warm reds and festive golds. I much prefer these colours to the bright blues and neon pinks I feel obliged to wear during the warm months - I find them much more flattering. My absolute favourite winter polish - and probably my favourite nail polish overall - is Black Cherries by Rimmel London.

This nail polish is from the I Love Lasting Finish collection, the quality it really good and for me the colour is just gorgeous. An almost black purple which has a very glossy finish - perfect for the festive season!

I genuinely missed this nail polish over the summer and I am so glad that it is back in my - seemingly empty - life.

What is your favourite winter nail polish?

Nail of the Day - Hyperreal by Topshop

When I was wondering in Topshop the other week, I suddenly found myself gravitating toward the makeup section. I have been overall really impressed with Topshop's makeup but for me the nail polishes are by far the best. The array of colours and the £5/6 price tag are too good to resist, so I picked up one ... because I needed it.

I have been recently obsessed with bronze makeup and this colour looked so gorgeous. Like all Topshop nail polishes the quality is really good and for me, it lasted about five days. However, the colour was not what I expected, from the bottle it looks like a divine bronze with just the right amount of shimmer, on my nails it almost looked like a rose gold (I love rose gold nail polishes - Rage by Orly is amazing - but I really wanted a bronze nail polish).

Overall, I do like this colour and it will be lovely for the Christmas period but I am still on the market for the perfect bronze nail polish.

Any recommendations?
